Information about the group “Scholars Word”

SCHOLARS WORD is a reggae/dub band based out of Florida, USA. Never one to compromise the sound or message of reggae Scholars Word has striven to remain true to the art while maintaining their original style and letting their different musical influences shine through.
The band has been together almost a decade touring the eastern U.S. on a regular basis and having also toured parts of California and the Western US. The group released (Dec. 1, 2006) its cd “HOW LONG” which features TEN new tracks full of conscious lyrics, roots riddims and a dose of DUB. Not ones to shy away, the release is full of politically and socially charged themes such as the title track which asks each one of us “How Long?”.
During the summer 2006 Scholars Word was on the ‘Eastside Theory’ Video Premiere Tour along the east coast from New York to Florida. ‘Eastside Theory’ features surfing in New York, Australia, and Hawaii as well as a soundtrack featuring Scholars Word and other international artists such as Hawaii’s Humble Soul, Portugal’s Three and a Quarter, NYC’s Seer, the Hilltop Hoods & many more.

In addition Scholars Word has been fortunate enough to have played with many of the top artists including: Damian Marley, Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, Ky-Mani Marley, Julian Marley, Sizzla, Buju Banton, Capleton, Steel Pulse, Burning Spear, The Wailers, Israel Vibration, Don Carlos, Anthony B, Bushman, Mad Professor, EEK-A-Mouse, Mikey Dread, Everton Blender, Freddie McGregor, Third World, The Meditations, The Itals, Pato Banton, Culture, Morgan Heritage, Frankie Paul, Humble Soul, Soldiers of Jah Army, Outkast, Sleepy Brown, Big Boi, T.I., Ja Rule, Jo-Jo, 112, Nate Dogg, Bubba Sparxx, Digital Underground, Erykah Badu, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Pietasters & more.

Quick Note:

I am going to the Scholars Word Show with my new friend Julian, from Twisted Roots Reggae Shop in Monterey, Ca. He was kind enough to allow me to play my Djembe in his shop for a few hours today! I would like to try and reform a weekly Drum Circle in Monterey. More on that coming very soon.
